Antibody Discovery, Engineering, and Characterization

Christine L. Hsieh, Ph.D.
Senior Research Scientist

Dr. Christine L. Hsieh joined Curia from LakePharma, the Biologics Company in 2020. She is a Senior Research Scientist within Curia’s Antibody Discovery, Engineering, and Characterization group at San Carlos, California. Her team of experts are dedicated to partnering with clients for Antibody Discovery and Gene to Protein services. Christine currently leads the Single B Cell Antibody Discovery team, she specializes in cellular immunology assay development, and she serves as a subject matter expert in client discussions.  

Christine is a trained immunologist interested in immunology-based disease mechanisms and therapies. She joined LakePharma to support Hybridoma and Phage/Yeast Display technologies to support the biotechnology industry to realize treatments. At Curia, she led efforts to establish a new platform and leads the Single B Cell Antibody Discovery group using state-of-the-art technologies to expedite antibody discovery. Other career highlights for Christine include that she is an Associate Professor in Rheumatology at the University of California, San Francisco. She is also the Director of the Flow Cytometry Core, Molecular Biology Core, and Cell Imaging Core Facilities at the San Francisco VA Medical Center.

Christine earned her Bachelor of Science in Molecular, Cell, and Developmental Biology from the University of California, Los Angeles. She received her Ph.D. in Immunology from Stanford University, and performed her Postdoctoral Fellowship in Neuroimmunology at the University of California, San Francisco. She has authored several peer-reviewed publications and is the proud recipient of Curia’s Research & Development Innovation Award of 2023.


Protein/antibody process development transition to manufacturing and/or mRNA process development and pipeline from research to GMP

Director, Process Development

Scott Alderucci is the director of process development overseeing the process development and GMP divisions of mRNA at Curia. He holds a scientific master’s degree and has 25 years of experience working in the field of biologics focused on DNA, mRNA and antibody platforms. He has worked within such institutions as Millennium Pharmaceuticals, Cellular Genomics, the State of Massachusetts, and Shire Pharmaceuticals prior to joining Curia. His current role is focused on providing research and development through GMP level production of a wide range of mRNA products to meet various program goals.
